For some reason I have decided it is a good idea for me to take part in NaNoWriMo this year. I am totally disorganised, as I have not planned in the slightest, but I have barely been writing at all recently. For me, this NaNoWriMo is a chance to actually start writing again. I am hoping that by disciplining myself to write 1,667 words a day it will kick start my sluggish imagination. I am not expecting to write a bestselling novel, but I am expecting to write every day and I am expecting to face down these writing demons that have stopped me from even trying.
Do I feel slightly overwhelmed? Do I feel totally clueless about what is to come? Am I nervous that I will fail miserably? Yes, yes and yes! But I really want to try, because it might just work and I might write something I like, or I might just start writing everyday and not hide what I create from people.
I will be writing a series of posts about my experiences, what works and doesn’t work for me and whether I can sustain a displine of writing every day once November is through. I would love to hear from any of you participating in NaNoWriMo, whether you are a seasoned hand or whether this is your first attempt (like me 😳). What has worked well for you? How did you prepare? What would you do differently next time? How do you stop editing as you go along?
Here is the link to my NaNoWriMo profile if you would like to buddy up for some writing sprints, or just need someone to share your pain / joy with – Sarah readswritesblogs My mantra for the next month will definitely be one word at a time 🙂
Let me know how you are feeling about NaNoWriMo!
